A Classical Garden in Virginia

The rose garden at Mount Sharon

Friends in the Commonwealth, don't miss your chance to see the one-of-a-kind classical garden designed by world renowned landscape architect Charles J. Stick.  On Sunday, Mary Lou and Charlie Seilheimer, the owners of Mount Sharon, open their home to offer a rare glimpse into the rarified world of high design in the Colonial Revival style.

The Four Seasons garden

The Seilheimers spent three years with Charles Stick to design a garden that captured the spirit and history of the surrounding Virginia piedmont.

Recently profiled in Garden and Gun, the practice of Charlottesville-based Charles Stick centers on making gardens for private individuals across the country. Trained at UVA, Stick focuses on how you tie a house to a garden and a garden to the surrounding landscape. I think he nailed it with Mount Sharon.
