The Preppy Puppy's 2010 Year in Review

HI!! Spencer, aka The Preppy Pink and Green Puppy, here.  Mommy and Daddy are out to dinner so I thought I'd hijack the blog and show you some of my favorite memories of 2010. It was a fantastic year and I'm so glad Mommy is such a shutterbug and captured most of the memories on film.

The year always starts off so nicely since January 15 is my birthday!  Daddy was in Africa but Mommy did a celebration big enough for all of us.

February brought Daddy home and lots and lots of snow.  More than I have seen in my lifetime combined.   It was lots of fun to play in the snow, especially since I had such a nice coat to keep me warm.

In the spring, Mommy and I made our annual trip to the Super Pet Expo.  It's always lots of fun.

We also went on a super fun outing to Great Meadow with all my Cavalier friends.  I can't wait to go back in 2011!

I also enjoyed a pretend ride with Daddy on one of his bikes.

In 2010, Mommy started this new thing called fostering, which meant Cavaliers stayed with us for several weeks until their new families were ready for them.  We had two, Dakota and Princess.

During the summer, I went to the Nationals' Pups in the Park.  Twice.  Once with Mommy and Grams (Daddy was in Africa) and then with the 'rents and Dakota.

I also got to cruise the Potomac with my Cavalier buddies and Mommy and Daddy.

In the fall, we went to the McLean Pet Expo.  It wasn't as big as the other expo I went to, but I saw five Cavaliers!

And just a few weeks ago, I played in the snow with Princess.  I'm not sure she'd seen snow before because she didn't like it nearly as much as I did.

On Christmas, I snuck up to the table while Daddy was finishing dessert.  Mommy was mad but first ran to get her camera before she made me get down.

Even with all this fun, I think my favorite memory of 2010 was meeting my new two-legged cousin, Hadley.  I love her and can't wait until she's old enough to play with me.

Happy New Year, my friends!  Mommy and I are excited to share more of our lives with you in 2011.

Home for the holidays

A package better than any wrapped and placed under the tree came to my house for Christmas.  Hadley!  Her NICU stay ended just in time for Hadley and my sister to enjoy this special time of year together.  In her 28 days in the hospital, she had lots of time to rest and grow.  She's now 4 pounds, 11 ounces and 17 1/2 inches.  We're all thrilled she's doing so well and that she got to enjoy Christmas with her family.

Taking a quick peek at her surroundings.  She doesn't open her eyes very much but the doctor said that's pretty normal for a baby as young as Hadley.  She's a month old but her gestational age is only 36 weeks.

Even though she didn't partake, she was very sleepy after dinner and took a nap in the bouncy seat my bestie S gave her.

Spencer was fasinated with his new cousin and spent more time with her than anyone.   He said he wants one just like her for Christmas next year.

Hadley gets very cold and has to wear a hat most of the time.  My sister was messing around during dinner and decided she was going to transform her into the Swedish Chef.

SAW with the nightlight cover I needlepointed for the little person.

Auntie Whitney, no more pictures.  Please. ;-)

Merry Christmas

I hope everyone has a wonderful celebration with family and friends.  xo xo

The Fredericton Market

Each time we visit L, our Saturday starts with a trip to the Fredericton market.  Every Saturday, local farmers, crafts people, bakers, artisans and ethnic food vendors set up shop to peddle their wares.  This market is similar to many we have at home, however the Fredericton market has many more food carts.  JDD loves this part because he can get his fill of samosas, schnitzel, donair and poutine.  I usually stick with the donuts and fresh squeezed orange juice.

Festive wreaths.

Some of the food vendors outside.

Inside the market you can find everything else.

The cupcake trend made it to New Brunswick.  These Frosted cupcakes were tastier than many I've had in DC and much larger.

I loved this festive display of juice bottles.

New Brunswick is Canada's only bilingual province so you see signs and packages in both French and English.

 I liked this sign

The girl who baked these pies was so excited I wanted to photograph them.  Wonder what she would have done if I bought one?

No trip to the market is complete without taking a picture of this sign.

An 1855 Christmas

Earlier this month, JDD and I went to New Brunswick, Canada to visit his daughter.  Not far from where L lives is Kings Landing, an historical settlement "that depicts the one hundred year transformation of a young colony into a vibrant nation".  JDD and I have never been, but L has many times and has also participated in their summer camp, where for several weeks she lived like a child would have in 19th century Canada.  In the middle of the property is the King's Head Inn, an old resturant and pub.  The King's Head Inn does a special holiday celebration where you're transported back to Christmas in 1855.  It was nice, but I think I prefer a thoroughly modern holiday. ;-)

I really wanted this wreath, but they weren't able to ship it and I couldn't figure out how to get it home on the plane.
